Finally sitting down to do an episode that was planned months beforehand, Lee and Paul chat about John Russo’s “Midnight” (1982) & Joseph Ellison’s “Don’t Go in the House” (1979). Paul also chats a bit about his time attending the 2016 Living Dead Weekend and the people he talked to at the event, including Russo himself. This one is pretty loose and lacking fucks, as both hosts are drunk, but it’s generally a pretty fun conversation, and they do try to review the films. What more can you ask for on a free podcast? NOTHING! That’s what.

Lee and Daniel start off 2017 by looking at Curtis Hanson’s epic 1950s crime picture “L.A. Confidential” (1997). A lot of time is spent talking about the characters, the way the action is shot, and if the film is a truly a noir or not. They also talk about the differences between the film and the James Ellroy novel of the same name, that it was adapted from. Also covered: what they’ve watched as of late (WARNING: there’s some “Rogue One” spoilers) and a good deal of listener comments are read and responded to.

The year of 2016 is over, so time to talk about what movies the hosts liked best! Like in previous best-of episodes, Lee and Daniel come together to talk about the best films they’ve watched for the first time in the year, not strictly just films from that year. Lee failed to realise that he had a top eleven instead of a top ten. Daniel also has a short list of performances he enjoyed from first-time watches this past year. This is a very casual and lightly edited episode, not quite up to our usual shitty standards, but the conversation is quite fun. TMBDOS! wishes all of our listeners a happy new year. Stay safe. Up for review first is the Bondish “Cleopatra Jones” (1973), and then the cheap, chopsocky cash-in “TNT Jackson” (1974). Listener comments are also covered. This one is a bit more of a casual episode again — short and sweet and hard to defeat. Take a hard line and you’ll have a bad time. Turn that frown upside down or you’ll enter demolition town.
