TMBDOS! Episode 85: “L.A. Confidential” (1997).

Lee and Daniel start off 2017 by looking at Curtis Hanson’s epic 1950s crime picture “L.A. Confidential” (1997). A lot of time is spent talking about the characters, the way the action is shot, and if the film is a truly a noir or not. They also talk about the differences between the film and the James Ellroy novel of the same name, that it was adapted from. Also covered: what they’ve watched as of late (WARNING: there’s some “Rogue One” spoilers) and a good deal of listener comments are read and responded to.

TMBDOS! Episode 84: The Best Things We Watched in 2016.

The year of 2016 is over, so time to talk about what movies the hosts liked best! Like in previous best-of episodes, Lee and Daniel come together to talk about the best films they’ve watched for the first time in the year, not strictly just films from that year. Lee failed to realise that he had a top eleven instead of a top ten. Daniel also has a short list of performances he enjoyed from first-time watches this past year. This is a very casual and lightly edited episode, not quite up to our usual shitty standards, but the conversation is quite fun. TMBDOS! wishes all of our listeners a happy new year. Stay safe. Be good. Well, not too good, but you get our drift.

TMBDOS! Episode 83: “Q – The Winged Serpent” (1982).

What echos the Christmas/Holiday season better than “Q – The Winged Serpent” (1982)? If there’s anything more fitting, Lee and Daniel don’t want to know about it. Yes, this week they tackle Larry Cohen’s low-budget throw-back to the great 1950s monster films; discuss what they’ve watched as of late, and respond to an abundance of listener feedback.

TMBDOS! Episode 82: “Halloween III: Season of the Witch” (1982) & “Night of the Creeps” (1986).

This week Paul returns to join Lee in a quick and fairly casual chat about “Halloween III: Season of the Witch” (1982) and “Night of the Creeps” (1986). That’s right, it’s Tom Atkins times two this week. What they’ve watched as of late and listener comments are also covered. It should be noted that the audio quality isn’t great this time out. Lee had his mic turned up in the Google+ Hangout they recorded in by mistake, so Paul comes in a bit low in the mix. Apologies in advance.

TMBDOS! Intermission #15: Purchases and the Horror of Upcoming Horror.

Fate has conspired against the regular podcasting plans this week so Lee is flying solo for an intermission episode. This week he shouts-out a podcast that mentioned TMBDOS! and goes over some of his recent DVD purchases. Then he looks at a list of upcoming horror films in 2017… and, well, he wasn’t drunk enough to deal with it. Enjoy!

TMBDOS! Episode 81: “Cleopatra Jones” (1973) & “TNT Jackson” (1974).

This week Lee and Daniel take a look at two blaxploitation films with a female lead that don’t star Pam Grier (don’t worry, they’ll eventually get to her as well). Up for review first is the Bondish “Cleopatra Jones” (1973), and then the cheap, chopsocky cash-in “TNT Jackson” (1974). Listener comments are also covered. This one is a bit more of a casual episode again — short and sweet and hard to defeat. Take a hard line and you’ll have a bad time. Turn that frown upside down or you’ll enter demolition town. It has kicks to the head that will leave you dead. Okay, we’ll stop now.

TMBDOS! Episode 79: “Nosferatu” (1922 & 1979).

To cap off the official episodes for October of 2016 Lee and Daniel are joined by their friend Jack Graham of Shabogan Graffiti to discuss, in-depth, both the original 1922 silent vampire classic “Nosferatu”, directed by F.W. Murnau, as well as the 1979 remake, directed by Werner Herzog. Just how German expressionist is the original anyway? What version of the original should one seek out? Is the remake an improvement on the original? How many bad vampire puns can the hosts make before even they get tired of it? Tune in to have these questions answered and to hear about what they’ve watched as of late; cover listener comments; and for a brief announcement on the schedule of the podcast going forward after this month.

Lee and Daniel are joined this week by their friend and fellow podcaster James Murphy from the excellent Pex Lives podcast to cover the somewhat over-looked Amicus classic “The Skull” (1965), as well as one of the most beloved Vincent Price films, “Theatre of Blood” (1973). Some small tangents pop up and the hosts also cover listener comments and what they’ve watched as of late.
